Sorry! It's been a minute....

Actually, way more than a minute! We never stopped birding and we have so much to share in the new year, but since a large part of our other business Outer Island is producing Christmas ornaments, we were consumed by the Christmas season. We'll be better next holiday season I promise.

Outer Island focuses on creating Australian souvenirs that are actually made in Australia with a focus on promoting native plants and animals. Right now we have a line of 16 Christmas ornaments, 8 of which are native Australian birds:

  • Sulphur Crested Cockatoo
  • Banksian Cockatoo
  • Major Mitchell's Cockatoo
  • Australian Ibis
  • Magpie
  • Eastern Rosella
  • Zebra Finch
  • Kookaburra

We will be adding even more birds to our line next year. If you have any suggestions we'd love to hear them....

This is a photo from our studio in Darlinghurst. We create paintings that we also turn into tea towels and linens. The ornaments are all hand-painted on wood and with all our products we create them using sustainable, natural or recyclable materials.

So, without further adieu we are getting ready for sharing so many Australian and Sydney bird things this year in 2018. We'll be sharing our bird of the months, more birds in art, including birds in art at the Art Gallery of NSW and recommendations for day-trips from Sydney to see birds.

If you're reading this or any of our blog posts it means you love birds just as much as we do - we'd love to hear about it! If you have any good bird stories or tips about birding in Australia or Sydney to share let us know.

Cheers,
Stephanie
